What this site does and does not promise

Uprootmap estimates take-home pay, rent, living costs, moving costs and similar figures by running published data through a model. The methodology explains every assumption. Models simplify, data sources lag and contain errors, tax rules change, and your situation has details no form can capture. We do not guarantee that anything on the site is accurate, complete or current, and we may change or remove any figure at any time without notice.

Use the site to decide which places are worth researching properly. Before you move, sign a lease, buy a home, hire anyone or change jobs, check real listings and real quotes and run your own numbers.

Nothing here is tax advice, financial or investment advice, legal advice, real-estate or lending advice, insurance advice, or moving or relocation advice, and reading it does not create any professional relationship. Tax and cost figures are approximations that ignore many rules, deductions and credits. Consult a qualified professional who knows your circumstances.

The site draws on data published by the US Census Bureau, Zillow, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Internal Revenue Service, the National Center for Education Statistics, County Health Rankings, Open-Meteo and OpenStreetMap, and links to Google, Yelp and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. We do not control those sources, are not affiliated with any of them, and are not responsible for their accuracy, availability or terms. Their names and marks belong to their owners.

Any star rating, review count, photo or business listing shown or linked on this site is the work of the site that published it, such as Google or Yelp, and reflects the opinions of its reviewers, not ours. A link to a business, a school district, a map or any other outside page is provided for convenience and is not an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee. We have not checked the licensing, insurance, safety record or quality of any company the site links to.

Uprootmap is not a moving company, a moving broker or a referral service. Moving cost figures are rough estimates from a model, not quotes, and a real price may fall well outside them. We take no referral fee, commission or other payment from any mover and play no part in any agreement between you and a company you hire. You are responsible for choosing a mover, for checking its registration with the FMCSA and its insurance, and for the terms you agree to.

The site is funded by advertising served by Google. Ads are chosen by the advertising network, not by us, and an ad is not an endorsement. We are not responsible for the content of ads or for any site an ad leads to. The privacy policy explains how advertising cookies work here.

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Uprootmap and the people who run it are not liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, that arises from using the site, relying on anything on it, or dealing with any company, person or site it links to.
